  • Congratulations!

Last night was the County Million Words Celebration. We are so proud of all of our students who received this honor. We had 119 students from WLMS read 1 million words or more before the April 27th cutoff date. This was the largest number of students from any school. We also had the top reader in the county. Rafe Reese who read over 12 million words by the cutoff date. WLMS is the only school to have an entire classroom read 1 million words. Mrs. Woods 3rd Period class of 25 students received this honor. Wow, that is amazing! Students can still get 1 million words for the school if they reach it by Friday, May 25th. This is the cutoff date for AR. Great job students and teachers!

  • Gamewell Junior Fire Academy

Gamewell Fire Department is hosting a week long summer camp for middle schoolers currently in grades 6-8 from July 16-20. It’s called Gamewell Junior Fire Academy. We have 21 spots that we would like to fill with those students who are interested in firefighting. I know that is a quick turn around but we would like all applications to be turned in by Friday, June 1st. You can email Leslie Hawkins at lhawkins@caldwellschools.com or turn a printed one it to Mrs. O’Quinn in the Media Center. Lunch will be provided each day and students will learn about the fire department, fire equipment, EMS and forestry. The week will end with a “graduation” on July 20th. We will invite parents, have a cookout and students will show what they have learned.
