Mrs. Liz Fredrickson, ESL Teacher
Growing up I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. My mom was a teacher and I didn't think there was another job out there that spoke to me like teaching. I was determined to follow in my mother's footsteps and come home each night telling about what her wonderful students did each day and what amazing things they had learned. I couldn't imagine anything better. In high school I spent my time working with as many volunteer jobs that focused on children. I couldnt' get enough. I even worked in a child care facility each morning before I went to school. As I entered college at The Univeristy of North Carolina at Asheville, I jumped into the education department right away and spent almost every moment I had working with children in some way. I majored in psychology to understand children, I took classes in education, ranging from elementary to high shcool. I didn't want to limit myself to any one thing. I worked hard and finally granduated. I spent the next three years teaching in Burke County, working with third and fifth grade students. After taking a few years off, I went back into teaching, but in a different fashion. I entered the classroom as an ESL teacher. I now work with students who are either new to the country or who may struggle with the difficutly of the English language. I adore my students and work with amazing schools. I am a very, very happy teacher.
