Degrees and Certifications:
BSBA Information Systems - Appalachian State University
Mrs. Heather Edwards
I graduated from Appalachian State University in 2001 and immediately went to work in the business world. For years I knew I was in the wrong profession; that my longing was to teach. The opportunity presented itself for me to return to school to obtain a teaching license to accompany my BS in Business Administration. I have now been at Granite Falls Middle School since 2018.
My Teaching Philosophy:
I believe that all children are unique and have something special that they can bring to their own education. Children must have a educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. I will provide a safe environment where students are invited to share their ideas and take risks. Every classroom has its own unique community and my role as the teacher will be to assist each child in developing their own potential and learning styles. I also believe that, as a teacher, I am morally obligated to enter the classroom with only the highest of expectations for each and every one of my students. I believe teaching is a learning process; learning from my students, their parents, my colleagues, and the community.
