Degrees and Certifications:
Hi! I am excited to be starting my third year here at Dudley Shoals Elementary School. I graduated from CCC&TI with a degree in Early Childhood Education in 2018. I then transferred to Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk and completed my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education in May of 2020. My first year teaching was in 2020 and what an experience that was!
I love teaching. I believe that if a student feels safe and loved, they can learn. I also believe that we don't always learn at the same pace and that there isn't a "one size fits all" approach to education. Growing up, I was a student who needed some extra practice and someone who wouldn't give up on me, which is why I take this job so personally. I run my class on giggles, grace, gratitude, grit, and gumption. We're a 5G class, all the way.
When I am not busy teaching young minds, I love to bake, cook, camp, hike, kayak, and ride a motorcycle. I'm convinced that while every day might not be a "good" day, there IS good in every day. My husband Johnny and I have been married for 25 years (in October). I have two stepsons, John (wife Rhiannon), and Steven (wife Lauren), and four grandchildren, Nathaniel, Dylan, Allison, and Carolina. I love being "Mema" to them. I have two dogs, Beaufort (Bo-fort) and Roxanne.
I live intentionally and I teach joyfully. Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to continue to instill in your child a love of learning. And, thanks for letting me love them. I can't believe I get to do this job!!!
