Student Council Advisors
Mrs. Abernathy and Mrs. Kanupp
Gamewell Elementary had the idea to engage students in community service involving their school and community by choosing students with A/B academic averages, superior conduct, remarkable attendance, responsibility, and a recommendation from their teacher. With those given qualities, we have become GES Student Council.
Students have been asked to write a one page essay explaining why they should be chosen to be in Student Council, what it would mean to them to be a member, and the importance of being involved in their community. The essays are then read by a panel of people that choose the students that qualify for an interview.
Students also run for various offices, such as President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Students are responsible for campaigning, making posters, and preparing a speech regarding their campaign.
Students meet bi-weekly, on Tuesdays, from 2:30-3:30. During these meetings, students work around the school with beautification, recycling paper and aluminum, and discussing future projects.
