    Math: Students took a STAR Math Benchmark test today - if they finished early, they worked in Freckle.

    Science: Student choice today. They could work on their Physics4kids webwork from Monday, or on their Study Island Properties of Material assignment or in their textbook on the Heat and Temperature Directed Readings (Chapter 14, Sec 1 and 2). Those that finished worked on their Heat vocabulary - cut and paste matching definitions to terms.

    Science: Student choice today. They could work on their Physics4kids webwork from yesterday, or on their Study Island Properties of Material assignment or in their textbook on the Heat and Temperature Directed Readings (Chapter 14, Sec 1 and 2).

    Math: Started unit on Surface Area - it all breaks down to knowing how to find the area of a square/rectangle and a triangle!

    Coordinate plane graphing - should end up looking like a turkey!

    Math: Self-checking hallway walkabout solving GCF and LCM word problems. Students who finished started working on on our next unit - Ratios! They worked through three Khan Academy online tutorial videos and problems. Also a Study Hall today, so students could work on missing assignments to include Freckle - there are five Freckle assignments for the first nine weeks grading period!

    Science: Study Hall so students could work on missing assignments in Study Island (Atoms and Matter - scoring 80% or higher).

    Math: Self-checking hallway walkabout solving GCF and LCM word problems. Students who finished started working on on our next unit - Ratios! They worked through three Khan Academy online tutorial videos and problems.

    Science: We spent our science unit today discussing Veterans Day and what it's like to be in the military and how the different branches of the military compare to each other. Why? Today, students were handed an invitation they could give to any veteran in their family. GMS will be hosting a Veterans Day ceremony on Nov 10 and we want to make sure our local veterans are invited!

    Math: Students should work in Freckle - they have four assignments that correlate to curriculum being learned. They may also have individual assignments based upon their STAR Math scores.

    Science: Students should work in Study Island - they have two assignments (Atoms and Matter). They should also start on their Atomic Model Project. Atoms test on Monday.

    Wed - Fri - county wide access issue - we were unable to access our webpages to provide info and updates. Permissions were restored late Friday evening.

    Math: Students worked on their How Can You Tell if a Shark Likes You - self checking GCF puzzle or in Freckle. We started learning how to use the Distributive Property and the GCF to "express the sum as a product".

    Science: Students took their Scientific Method end of unit test. They had time during WIN to study, and they were also able to create a "life raft" in class - they were given an index card and 2 minutes to write down anything they wanted to about the Scientific Method - they could then use this card to help them on their test. They also worked in Study Island on their Atoms! assignment.

    Math: Students practiced their multiplication skills by filling out their multiplication chart which they can use as a resource all year. This activity helped them realize which numbers they need to practice! We also started working on divisibility rules.

    Science: We started our science safety unit. Even though we aren't an actual science lab, I do have expectations and rules for students to follow when it comes to lab safety.

    Math: We started using our bellringers (spiral review). We discussed how we all felt about math, how we each learn best when it comes math and what we feel we are good at. 6B1 (my homeroom) created their first resource, their multiplication chart. 6B2 (Gragg's homeroom) will do this tomorrow.

    Science: We had a great discussion on what science is. I asked the students to write about the last time they used science.I had a lot of answers "5th grade". We talked about how science is all around us; our body systems, the sound waves they hear as we talk, how their eyes and brains are working to determine what they are seeing. Science is so fascinating!

    Math/Science: We did not cover any core content material today. We spent the majority of the class time going over classroom and school procedures, taking care of locker assignments, touring the school, learning more about our kids and building relationships with them.
