Student Activity Financial Assistance Fund
The Student Activity Financial Assistance Fund program began with a donation from the Whitener Foundation to the Education Foundation of Caldwell County honoring Helen Hall for her care and concern for children. Mrs. Hall requested the donation be used to help students participate in valuable and enjoyable learning experiences, which might well by unattainable without such a scholarship. Since its inception, the Student Activity Scholarship Fund has been strengthened by donations from other individuals and businesses.
What is the Scholarship Program?
A scholarship of up to $50.00 will be used to assist individual students during the school year who cannot participate in class-wide curriculum-related or academic activities without assistance. If a student is participating or performing in a national competition additional funds may be available up to $100.00. Athletic activities or medical needs are not eligible.
Who is Eligible?
Students K-12 enrolled in the Caldwell County School system are eligible to apply. All scholarship applicants shall be considered without regard to race, age, color, sex, national origin, or handicap. Priority will be given to activities that specifically relate to the grade level Standard Course of Study.
Deadline for Request
Applications must be received by the first day of each month to be reviewed at the mid-month scholarship committee meeting. Please plan ahead so that funds will be received before the scheduled activity. Scholarships will not be awarded after May 1 of each year.
How to Apply
Students at the elementary and middle school level must have a teacher or parent fill out the application, and it must be signed by the following: their parent (legal guardian), a teacher, and their principal. High school students may complete the application themselves but must include the same signatures.
A committee appointed by the Education Foundation will select recipients. Due to the overwhelming number of requests, please refer to complete application for activities that will not be funded or are considered low priority. All decisions are subject to the discretion of the committee.
DUE TO IRS REPORTING, FUNDS NOT SPENT MUST BE RETURNED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE EVENT TO THE EDUCATION FOUNDATION.
School sponsor must return verification of funds spent to the Education Foundation within five (5) days after activity is complete.
