  • This is David Colwell, Principal, Hibriten High School with an extremely important update concerning the Coronavirus outbreak and how it will affect us in the coming weeks.  It has been mandated by North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper that all North Carolina Schools be closed for two weeks as a precautionary measure against the potential spread of the Coronavirus, effective Monday, March 16.

Please be assured that our district office and the administration of Hibriten High School, our teachers, and our support staff have worked together in preparation of a possible extended closure of our school to ensure that your child will continue to be connected with our teachers and our staff. A technology check with students was conducted this past Friday to ensure they would have the ability to communicate with their teachers online.  At this time, we are awaiting information regarding the end of the nine weeks grading period and how best to proceed. We hope to know more Sunday. Our administrative team and our media coordinator are identifying resources for our teachers as they continue to plan for the possible implementation of a distance learning scenario for our students, including those who are taking college classes on Hibriten’s campus. Students should communicate regularly with their teachers regarding academic assignments.

Everyone, Focus on your health, safety, and well-being.  For now...stay safe, check on your loved ones, especially the elderly, and exercise maximum precautionary procedures. Thank you...all of you...for ALL you do. Be safe and we will see you soon.  Have a great evening.  We will get through this together; this too shall pass.

    Best Wishes,David Colwell
