New Immunization Requirement
New Sixth Grade Vaccination Requirement for this School Year 2008/09
Each student entering the sixth grade will be required to have a Tetanus, Diphtheria, Petussis (Tdap) vaccine.
The School Nurses offered this to each fifth grader currently enrolled in the Caldwell County School System March 31st - April 8th 2008.
A flyer was sent home with program information and a consent form attached.
If you did not wish for your child to participate in the program, your child may receive the vaccine at the Caldwell County Health Dept. (without an appointment) or you may contact your child's doctor's office for the vaccination.
If your child has had a Tetanus-Diphtheria booster recently. He/she may not need a booster, please contact your school nurse to discuss.
Each student will need to provide proof of the vaccination upon entering the sixth grade.
Each Student entering kindergarten for the first time is required by NC State law to receive the following:
Physical Exam: A physical dated on or after August 25th, 2007 - Must be on the blue Kindergarten assessment form
(5) Diphtheria, Pertussis, & Tetanus
(2) Mump, Measles, & Rubella
(3) Heptitis B
(1-4) Haemophilus Influenzae Type b (HIB)
(1) Varicella (Chickenpox Vaccine)
What can I do to protect myself from the Flu?
Wash your hands often using soap and water. Wash hands before eating. Stay away from someone who is sick or has flulike sysptoms.
Flu Season is here!! CDC recommends getting vaccinated. We are now seeing positive Flu cases in our county!!
