The Governor's School of NC is the oldest statewide summer residential program for high school students in the nation.  The program, which is open to rising seniors only, with exceptions made for rising juniors in selected performing/visual arts areas, is located on two campuses:  Governor's School West at Salem College in Winston-Salem and Governor's School East at Meredith College in Raleigh.  Governor's School West began in 1963 and Governor's School East began in 1978.  Any rising junior or senior with achievement/grades in the top 5% of his/her grade level should see a high school counselor and AIG High School Specialist Amanda McLean for more information about this exceptional opportunity. Governor's School information sessions are held in September of each school year, with applications due to the District AIG office in October.  All nominations are due to the state office in early November.  State selections for this program are made in March.  The web site for NC Governor's School is:  www.ncgovschool.org.
