Ms. Schwartz is a graduate of West Virginia University. She has a dual masters in Elementary Education and as a Reading Specialist. She also has a background in art and children's theater, which is one of the reasons she loves teaching at Davenport.
Ms. Schwartz and Ms. Webb team together to teach 3rd grade students. Ms. Schwartz teaches math and science. Ms. Webb teaches the language arts. Although Ms. Schwart loves reading, she is equally passionate about math and science. If you are in Ms. Schwartz's math class, you will enjoy learning through play with hands-on lessons, singing, and art integration.
Ms. Schwartz has so much fun teaching science with STEAM lessons. The engineering process is very important to Ms. Schwartz because it teaches students that mistakes are opportunities to grow. Her room is a "Fail Safe" room, meaning, "If you get it wrong, learn from it, do it again, and get it right!"
Ms. Schwartz grew up in the Washington, D.C. area, which is where she met Mr. Schwartz while in art school. They have two grown sons and have celebrated over 30 years of marriage.
One of Ms. Schwartz's dogs, Geordi Laforge (we just call him Geordi) has been a popular guest at Davenport. He enjoys entertaining 3rd graders with his amazing frisbee catching ability.
