Mrs. Kathy Norman

Have you ever dreamed of flying freely through the Tropical Rainforest, surrounded by the sounds of MaCaws and other native wildlife? Kathy fulfilled her dream on April 12, 2010.  She took a trip of a lifetime to Costa Maya where she ziplined through a the rainforest, swam with stingrays and went splunking in the underwater caves.  This wasn't the only time, however, that Kathy soared into new endeavors and realized her dreams.

She graduated from Appalachian State University in December of 1996.   Upon graduating from ASU she began teaching at Davenport A+ School.  Over the past 20 she has taught first, second and fifth grade at Davenport.  Currently she is teaching fifth grade with a focus in science, which is her passion.  She is actively serving  as the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Technology) and Robotic coach.  Her first year coaching the team they placed third in the county. The team is looking for another win this year!

Not only is she actively involved in STEM but she is also serving in a leadership role for the 5th grade team.  Serving as the grade chair carries many responsibilities which she carries out with fidelity, dedication and enthusiasm.

Kathy was especially interested in science and language arts growing up. Today she integrates her passion of both into her teaching style each and every day. Today, Kathy encourages and fosters a love of science into her students.

Through her educational career, she has been voted as teacher of the year and was honored to serve and represent Davenport A+ School to the best of her ability.
