Hi, I am Chief Sam Smith.  I am privileged to be the teacher of the Hibriten Fire Academy.  Prior to coming to Hibriten, I was employed by the City of Lenoir Fire Dept. After 30 years of service, I retired as a Captain in March of 2013.  I was retired for one week and accepted the position at Hibriten.  I enjoy teaching and molding tomorrow's future firefighters.  We have a great cadet corps of both male and female students who are commited to public service as both career and volunteer servants.  Students who successfully complete 3 semesters of study are North Carolina Certified minus 2 classes that are not permitted to be taught in public school.  We are doubly proud to have Lenoir Fire Department to serve as our sponser fire department.  They are on campus frequently to assist us with training exercises.  Please feel free to call with additional information.  You also may visit with us but ask that you make appointments at least one week in advance of your visit.
