We are excited to announce the WLMS 8th grade formal will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018, from 7:00 p.m to 10:00 p.m at William Lenoir Middle School. Tickets will be available for purchase during lunch time/in the cafeteria the week of formal for $5.00. Tickets will also be available the day of the formal, at the door, for $5.00. Only WLMS 8th grade students may attend.
Dress code is as follows:
- This is an 8th grade “formal”; but, students are not required to have, wear, or purchase formal attire. Church attire is acceptable as well. We want everyone to attend and feel comfortable.
- Gentlemen: Suits or dress pants and a button up shirt/tie are appropriate; but, not required. Tuxedos or jeans with holes are not appropriate for this event.
- Ladies: It is preferred that two piece dresses NOT be purchased; however, if a two piece dress has been purchased, it will be allowed provided NO midriff is showing/exposed and the top meets the skirt at all times. If the midriff is showing, then one must wear appropriate undergarments/clothing that covers exposed areas, or the dress must be altered to meet dress code guidelines. NO side cut outs or open sides on dresses are allowed. NO plunging necklines are allowed. Dresses may be open in the back; provided the opening does not plunge lower than the waist line. Modest halter, spaghetti strap, and strapless dresses are allowed. Long formal gowns are not appropriate for this event.
- Sunglasses, bandanas, canes, and hats are not allowed.
If questions arise about dress code, please feel free to ask. Parents may email Lisa Vaughn, Principal, at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the school for further assistance. Ask in advance to allocate time for dress alterations, if required. Inappropriate attire will result in either no admittance to, or removal from, the 8th grade formal. Purchase of ticket does not guarantee entry if dress code is violated; nor, will ticket cost be refunded.
Invitations will be delivered to each 8th grader in the coming weeks. We are looking forward to June 2!
