I graduated from The University of Texas at Tyler with a Bachelor Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, majoring in English and Reading. I received a lifetime certification in all subjects K-6 and ELA/Reading in grades K-8 in Texas. I added ELA for Middle Schools in North Carolina this year. The 2018-19 school year is my first year at Granite Falls Middle School! I began public school teaching in a self-contained 6th grade classroom in 1998 and ended in 7th grade ELA in 2001. The years in between remained full of education – I owned and operated a learning center for 8 years, homeschooled my children, served as the Center Director for a math learning center, and substitute taught in many schools. I finished the Spring semester of 2018 here at GFMS and I could not be happier to officially join this family!
I have lived in NC for two years and my family and I are very happy here; we have no intention of leaving! We spend our spare time hiking, trail exploring, and playing games. We are looking forward to camping in the mountains and making our first trip to the coast.
I am ready for this school year with you! We won’t be stagnant or stuck, we will think and grow – together!
