Mrs. Carrie Curtis

Beginning my teaching career in 2010, history has always been more than my content. It is my passion. I truly enjoy bringing the valuable challenges and perspectives of the past into a present relevance for students each day. After graduating from the Caldwell County Schools System in 2003, I attended UNC Wilmington for my freshmen year, studied abroad in 2005 in London, England at Kingston University, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Journalism from UNC Charlotte in May 2007, and, in December 2012, I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary Social Studies from UNC Charlotte. I have a wonderful husband, Brent, and four beautiful children - my step-daughter, Victoria Ann, and three boys - Rhys Michael (a.k.a "The Kiwi”); Audie Gray, our Angel Boy; and Cullen Salem (a.k.a "The Bucket"). I love Big Band music, Turner Classic Movies, Mountain Dew, eating just about anything, date nights with any of my boys, anything vintage and a good historical drama.

As Jane Austen wrote, “There is a stubbornness about me that never can bear to be frightened at the will of others. My courage always rises at every attempt to intimidate me.” Although the present and future may be challenging and sometimes even frightening, the past gives us guidance and wisdom when we have the healthy stubbornness to seek it out. Each day, in my class, we endeavor to find our inner stubbornness and, thus, our courage.
