Ms. MaKayla White

Hey everyone!

My name is Ms. MaKayla White and I am the agriculture teacher here at West Caldwell. I am from Taylorsville, NC and I went to Alexander Central High School. I am a first generation college student. I just recently graduated from North Carolina State University (GO PACK!) and began my career at WCHS in July.

I have always had a passion for agriculture as I grew up on a production poultry farm where my family also raised beef cattle. My family raised chickens for Tyson for as long as I can remember and that is where my passion for agriculture began. When I got to high school I enrolled in Agriscience as a freshman and eventually took all of the agriculture classes that my high school offered. It was in high school that I also developed a passion for the horticulture industry. While in high school I fell in love with Landscape Design so upon graduatating high school I started my college career at Wilkes Community College where I earned a Associates of Science in Horticulture. After taking several Landscape Design courses at Wilkes CC I decided that probably wasn't the career for me. I transfered to NC State where I began to study Agriculture Education with a concentration in Horticulture. I graduated from NC State in May 2020 with a Bachelors of Science in Agriculture Education.

I am so happy to be here at WCHS and I cannot wait to see how our FFA Program grows over the next several years!
