Mrs. Lesia Hughey
I am proud to be a member of the staff at South Caldwell High School. My husband, Joey, and I were blessed with 2 children, Nicholas and Anna who are the love of our lives. We also have 2 wonderful grandchildren, Graysen and Rylee. Callie, our boarder collie, is the newest addition to our family. We are passionate about hiking, camping, and just hanging out together.
I started my career in the school system as a substitute and then was hired as the computer lab teacher at Icard Elementary. After 4 years, I transferred to Valdese Elementary and worked as a computer lab teacher for 5 years. During this time, I went back to college and got my teaching degree from ASU where I graduated in 2009. Go Mountaineers!
My teaching career began at Maiden Elementary and then at New Dimensions Charter School. I decided to switch up and try my skills at the middle school level where I started teaching Math and Science in Hickory City Schools at Grandview Middle School. During this time, I returned to ASU and received my certification to teach in the Special Education Department for grades K-12.
I was hired as an EC Teacher in 2016 at SCHS and I am happy to say that I am beginning my sixth year as a Spartan. I currently teach math and science in the OCS Program and love working with the students and helping them learn new things, grow socially and academically, and become independent young citizens. I look forward to many years in the Caldwell County School System and meeting new families each year.
