Degrees and Certifications:
Bachelor’s in General Studies Double Minor in Physical Education and Coaching
Experience: This will be my second year of full time teaching. I spent the fall of 20 teaching health and PE at South Caldwell High School. Then I transitioned to teaching Middle School separate setting at Heritage Middle School in Valdese where I also served as the head wrestling and baseball coach. I am extremely happy I was able to return to Gamewell Middle School as I was a student here many years ago!
Favorite Educational Quote and Why: "Education is the ability to listen to almost anything without losing your temper or your self-confidence." (Robert Frost.) As educators we need to understand that everyone has something important to say. I learn so much from young people by just listing. I have had students question why we do things that have made me re-think the process. We have our own ways and at times we think we know best. However, we need to look at not what's best for us but what is best for our students.
Why I Became An Educator: I wanted to give back to my community that has given so much to me and I want to make a difference in young ones lives.
Favorite Places in Caldwell County: Wilson Creek
Activites: Going out on the lake and fishing as well as sleeping out in a tent camping with friends. I also love going over the mountain to my alma mater ETSU and screaming my head off at some Buccaneer Football!
