Students in grades 3-12 entered winning school science projects in the 2019 Science Exhibition, a new platform for Caldwell County Schools’ students to showcase their science projects at the district level and to expound on their scientific findings with parents and invited guests from local businesses and the community.
This year’s event underwent some revisions from science fairs held previously. “The change in location was not the only revision,” said Amy Philyaw, Director of STEM Education and Science Exhibition Coordinator. “All school level science fair winners were invited to attend the event, display their project, and share their work with a committee of educators, community members, parents, and other students during a showcase and interview process to better prepare those attending the regional science fair.”
The Science Exhibition was held on Dec. 4 at the National Readiness Center in Lenoir. The regional science fair will be held at Appalachian State University on Dec. 17. “The overall changes were a success, and the event was well represented,” said Philyaw.
