Welcome to Kindergarten!
All parents whose children will turn five years old on or before August 31, 2023, and would like to enroll them in kindergarten this fall are encouraged to go to caldwellschools.com and complete the enrollment form. They are also invited to attend a kindergarten screening, which is an informative and positive experience that will enhance their child’s transition to kindergarten.
To enroll online for kindergarten, parents will follow these basic steps:
1. Go to caldwellschools.com and click on enrollment
2. Select create an account.
3. Complete the requested information.
4. Upload forms (or take copies to your child’s kindergarten school).
5. Save.
Parents of children who are currently participating in the Caldwell County Schools Pre-K program will follow a slightly different process, as their student’s information is already entered into the information management system. The enrollment steps will be distributed to these parents through their child’s Pre-K teacher.
Once parents complete the enrollment process, they will be contacted by their child’s school to schedule a Kindergarten Screening appointment. This is an opportunity to become more acquainted with the kindergarten teachers, the school environment and the rising kindergarten student will complete a simple readiness assessment. For limited English families, interpreters will provide support for kindergarten enrollment and student transfer application forms. This event is scheduled on Feb 16, 2023, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Caldwell County Schools Preschool Readiness Center, located at 332 Greenhaven Drive NW in Lenoir. The event will be held in the Freedman Staff Development Room.
All other parents who would like to apply for a student transfer for their rising kindergarten student should contact Joy Parker, Student Support Services administrative assistant, at 828.728-8407 ext. 140175. The Open Enrollment period for student transfer request forms closes on Feb 28, 2023.
