Davenport A+ Principal Wins LifeChanger of the Year Award
Jessica Anthony, principal of Davenport A+ School, was recognized today as one of ten national winners for LifeChanger of the Year, an annual awards program sponsored by National Life Group that recognizes K-12 teachers and school employees who are making a difference in the lives of children. Anthony was selected from 558 nominees nationwide.
“I am humbled and surprised by this award,” said Anthony in front of cheering students and staff during a schoolwide assembly. “This is the best job in the world, and I love being part of education here in Caldwell County and coming to my school every day.”
Prior to serving as principal at Davenport A+ School, Anthony taught Spanish at South Caldwell for six years from 2010 to 2016, then became an Assistant Principal at West Caldwell High School for three years and in 2019, was appointed as principal.
The nomination submitted by Assistant Principal Tracey Harris expounds on Anthony’s implementation of a Social-Emotional Learning curriculum to assist students in regulating their emotions and, according to Harris, the program continues to grow and develop. Anthony also implemented a school Leadership Program for rising fifth-grade students and a Positive Behavior Support System, allowing students to focus on the positive aspects of their behavior instead of the negative.
"She has changed the lives of so many here, including staff and students. She is truly a life changer," said Harris.
The LifeChanger of the Year award recognizes Anthony for her leadership in the community, exemplifying excellence as an educator and for creating a nurturing atmosphere at school. As the recipient, she receives a $3,000 cash prize.
