Heather Puhl, beginning teacher mentor, was one of two panelists featured on Education Week's K-12 Essentials national forum entitled Effective Strategies for Supporting New Teachers. She shared her creative and proven strategies to develop a robust, effective mentoring program for new and early-career teachers.

Puhl, with colleagues Denise Allen and Nancy Phipps, coordinates the beginning teacher mentoring program in the Caldwell County Schools. On a national scale, Puhl discussed the mentoring model that works well here and recommended ways for other school districts to leverage the strengths and knowledge new teachers have.
