March is National Women’s History Month was established in 1987 as a way to celebrate women across the nation and their efforts to make the country, and world, a better place for women of all ages and races.                                                                              

SAT word of the day is mammoth (MAM uth).  The meaning of mammoth is huge; gigantic.  Example: When Jane returned from vacation, she found a mammoth amount of work piled on her desk.

If you check out a chromebook from the media center, you have to return it before the end of the class period!

Congratulations to West Caldwell golfer Noah Bumgarner for capturing the Cleveland County Jr Golf championship at Deerbrook golf course in Shelby this past weekend.  Way to go Noah!!

Congratulations to Tavien Dawson, a media assistant, who won the Dear Martin Letter Writing Contest at the Caldwell County Library in Lenoir. Tavien won 4 of Nic Stone’s autographed books. Way to Go Tavien!

Band concert tonight at 6:00 pm in the theater - GMS 8th grade band, then the WCHS band. $2 donations appreciated.

The WCHS DECA club attended the NC DECA Career Development Conference in Greensboro.  DECA members attended workshops and competed in Marketing role plays. The following students achieved proficient scores for their tests. 

Jennifer Soto - Principles of Accounting 

Rosa Pena - Principles of Hospitality and Tourism 

Freddy Guardiola - Marketing Management 

James Moore - Marketing Communications 

Daniel Clark, Dancy Porter, and Elizabeth Absher - Principles of Marketing.

ROTC Blood drive is this Thursday, March 5th, please sign up during lunches if you are 16 or older. Donors will receive a $10 Visa Card!

ROTC-Tuesday through Friday: Seaperch practice 

If you would like to be in the video production class (produce the morning news) or a media assistant, please come by and pick up a form. Students must have good attendance, references from 2 academic teachers, and GPA of 2.5 or higher.

SENIOR INFORMATION:

The Lenoir Woman's Club $2000 scholarship is now available for male OR female students planning to attend a 4 year college.  Please see Wakefield for the application.  It is due March 10.

Ellevation has established a scholarship program to assist students who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

  • High school seniors who have been enrolled as an English Language Learner (ELL) at some point during their K-12 education.

Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming

SPORTS:

Softball will play at home against North Wilkes. Game time 4:30pm.

Women’s Soccer will play at South Caldwell beginning at 5:30pm. Come out and support your Warriors!
