The end of the first semester and 2nd nine-week grading period wraps up this week as high school students at Hibriten, South Caldwell and West Caldwell take multiple final exams.
The North Carolina exam schedule in Caldwell County began on Tuesday, Jan. 17, as students returned to school after the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday ready for the first assessments that were scheduled based on course offerings, enrollment and timed requirements for testing.
The North Carolina end-of-course (EOC) tests are administered to students enrolled in Math I, English II and Biology and the North Carolina Final Exams cover most other subjects offered in English, math and science as well as history. High school students who are enrolled in certain Career Technical Education (CTE) courses must also take CTE Assessments during this timeframe.
Besides teacher made exams for specific courses, more than 30 state mandated exams are being administered this week at the high school level.
For high school students, the exam schedule concludes on Monday, Jan. 23, which is a snow make-up day and also a make-up day for students who missed one of their exams. West Caldwell High School will also be administering 4th period EOC’s, NC Final Exams, CTE Assessments and teacher made exams on that day.
The 3rd nine-week grading period and 2nd semester begins on Tuesday, Jan. 24 for high school students. For elementary and middle school students, the new grading period begins on Monday.
