Seniors Get Ready for Graduation
Seniors at Hibriten High, West Caldwell High School, and South Caldwell High School will graduate this Saturday, June 8, 2019, on a staggered schedule. South Caldwell High School Spartans graduate first at 9:00 am, then 12 noon for West Caldwell High School graduates and in the afternoon at 3:00 pm for Hibriten High School.
“This is one of the most important events in the school district and within a family,” said Superintendent Dr. Donald Phipps. “Graduation is more than getting a diploma. It is a culmination of learning, connecting, and advancing through primary and secondary years of education. For the first time in decades, each high school graduation will be attended by all Board of Education members and the Superintendent.”
Previously, graduation day was held on Fridays at 7 pm, and the School Board members and Superintendent attended ceremonies on a rotational basis. The School Board voted this school year to move high school graduation to Saturday, using staggered start times.
Due to the forecast of rain and thunderstorms on Saturday, South Caldwell’s graduation ceremony will be held indoors with limited seating. Only individuals with a ticket will be allowed in the building. Doors will open at 7:30 am on Saturday. For those without a ticket, the South Caldwell graduation will be a live streaming event and can be viewed off-campus at Hudson First Baptist Church in the Life Center. Doors open at 8:00 am, and the church will provide volunteers to help with parking, seating, and all technical aspects. Hibriten and West Caldwell High School graduations will also be held in the school gym, and a ticket is required for admittance.
The Caldwell Early College High School and the Caldwell Middle College High School, both innovative high schools located on the campus of Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute, held commencement ceremonies in May.
