Gamewell Elementary and Middle School Students Receive Free Home Computers

Nearly 150 students at Gamewell Elementary and Gamewell Middle School received free home computers this week through the Kramden Institute.

The Caldwell County Schools Technology Department assisted with training family members on the new software and coordinated the distribution of equipment, which also included a monitor and a keyboard.

“We are thankful to continue toward our goal of putting a computer in every student’s home in Caldwell County. With the ongoing support of the Kramden Institute, we have successfully distributed 150 desktop computers this school year. This has been a very rewarding opportunity for us, we are grateful to all those involved," said Cody Greene, Technology Coordinator, on behalf of the technology team.

For these students at Gamewell Elementary and Gamewell Middle School to qualify, they did not have access to a working computer at home, and they have proven to be academically motivated. To date, Kramden Institute has served students in more than 70 North Carolina counties and has relied on principals, teachers, counselors and social works to identify and nominate servicing students.
