Welcome Breakfast Held for Student Teachers
Teacher mentors partnered with community agencies to hold a welcoming breakfast for all 17 student teachers assigned to the Caldwell County Schools this semester.
"Having student teachers in CCS allows our cooperative teacher leaders the ability to provide essential guidance in efforts to mold and develop novice educators," said Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Dr. Bill Griffin. "It also gives CCS an opportunity to view the student teachers in action as we look to recruit the finest future teachers."
Students who are enrolled as undergraduates seeking a degree with teacher licensure complete approximately 120-130 credit hours at a regionally accredited college/university that includes a series of General Education Courses — English, math, science, social studies, P.E., art, for example.
Each student is required to spend 16 weeks in student teaching. Elementary Education majors will be placed in an elementary classroom for 16 weeks. Special Education majors will be placed in a Special Education setting.
